Montclair Language League

Montclair Language League (MLL) is a parent-led, non-profit, tax-exempt organization devoted to providing foreign language instruction for Montclair Elementary School students. We are pleased to offer Italian, Mandarin, French, and Spanish language instruction (based on student demand and teacher availability).

Kindergarten Spanish

-MLL arranges for all Montclair kindergarteners to receive Spanish instruction, four days a week, during class hours as part of the curriculum.

-Donations from kindergarten families make this program possible. Our suggested, tax-deductible, donation for 2019-2020 is $550.00 (tax id#: 94-2472845).

You may go directly to the donation website or download the form and bring your donation to the school office. (Don’t forget to check for corporate matching!)

Before and After School Program

The before and after school language program is open to 1st – 5th graders.

  • Morning classes run from 7:55am-8:25am.
  • Afternoon classes run from 2:50pm-3:20pm.

Students may choose from Italian, Mandarin, French, and Spanish.

  • Students attend classes appropriate for their level of proficiency and their grade.
  • Most classes meet for 30 minutes, four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). Except for one 4th/5th grade Spanish class, MLL classes do not meet on Wednesdays.
  • MLL classes will not be held on minimum days, teacher development days, or school holidays. Additionally, in the event of significant unforeseen circumstances (like unplanned school closures, teacher strikes, etc.), MLL classes may need to be cancelled. Parents will be given as much advance notice of these cancellations as possible.
  • If, within the first two weeks of the program, you find that the program is not a good fit for your family, you can withdraw your child for a full refund (contact ). No refunds are available after the end of the first two weeks of the program (i.e., after September 6, 2019).

The 2019 – 2020 MLL calendar can be viewed here.

Tuition and Enrollment

Tuition for our before and after school program is $900 for the entire year ($40 discount for each sibling). Payment is accepted in a one-time payment in advance of the start of the program, or in two separate payments (one in May and one in September). Total payment for the two-installment option is $950.

Space is limited, so enrollment is based on a first-come, first-served basis. We are pleased to offer a limited number of financial aid scholarships and welcome scholarship applications (contact Kristin Brink, , or Principal Barloga).
