MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER – JUNE 3, 2015 VOL. 36

MINIMUM DAYS NEXT WEEK

Next week, the last week of school, all days will be Minimum Days–students will have a 1:30pm dismissal each day. AndThursday, June 11 is the last day of school!

MUSIC FESTIVAL TONIGHT

MES’ Music Festival takes place this evening, 6pm, in the Multipurpose Room. The festival will showcase the musical talents of Grades 3 and 4, accompanied by the Grade 4 Band. Students will play song flutes, dress in costumes, and share songs of the sea (called “sea shanties”) and songs of the Gold Rush Days. You don’t want to miss this performance!

FAMILY FUN DAY

Get ready – the annual Family Fun Day is this Friday, June 5, 3:15pm at Montclair Park! This is MES’ end-of-the-school-year family picnic, and we have loads of fun in store for everyone. Check out the new FFD flyer for a schedule of activities. The school day will officially end at 2:45pm. The fun begins after school dismissal and dinner will be served from 4-6pm. Family Fun Day is not sponsored by the Oakland Unified School District. Please remember that you are responsible for your child. If you are unable to attend or anticipate a late arrival, please make arrangements to have your child supervised by another adult. This extravaganza wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of our school community–please consider lending a hand for the event. To volunteer, please click here. As a reminder, Montclair Park has a NO alcohol, NO dogspolicy.

NEW MURAL DEDICATION

As many of you have seen, a new mural outside of the Multipurpose Room is unfolding! There will be a formal unveiling and dedication on Wednesday, June 10, 12:45pm. Please save the date and join us!

MONTCLAIR LANGUAGE LEAGUE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The MLL Board of Directors needs you! MLL is unique among Oakland public schools, providing foreign language instruction for our students in French, Italian, Mandarin and Spanish. The volunteer parent board makes this program possible. The time commitment is reasonable. You get experience running a non-profit organization and have the opportunity to work with other committed parents. For a listing of open positions, please click here. If you are interested, please contact Kari Stewart at.
