DON’T MISS YOUR KID’S REPORT CARD – TURN IN OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS!
Report cards come out this Friday, March 11, so time to round up all of those overdue library book. You won’t be able to get your student’s report card until all overdue books are turned in or, if lost, paid for at the school library. AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT (ASE) SPRING SESSION
Registration for Spring Session ASE deadline is this coming Friday, March 11. Don’t let your kids miss out on all the great offerings this spring––both right here on campus and with our neighbors at Montclair Rec. Check out the schedule and other important information on the ASE page of the school’s website (http://www.montclairschool.com/ase/). Spring session is April 4 – June 3. PARENT INFO NIGHT: HOW TO TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT RACE
The Montclair Elementary PTA invites you to a presentation featuring Allison Briscoe-Smith, PhD on Tuesday, March 15, 7-8pm in the Multipurpose Room. Parents, teachers, and caregivers will come away with an understanding of basic developmental awareness of children in regards to race, a grasp of what implicit bias is and how it impacts our children and support in thinking about HOW we want to engage with children about the topic of race. Dr. Briscoe-Smith is a psychologist who received her undergraduate training in social psychology from Harvard and her clinical degree in children’s psychology from U.C. Berkeley. Get those raffle tickets! While you don’t have to be present to win, you do need to purchase a ticket to be in the drawing. What can I win, you ask. How about these: 50-bottle Instant Wine Cellar (valued at over $600),Disneyland Park Hopper Tickets for 4 (valued at over $600), and an Apple iWatch (valued at $599). Ticket prices are $5 for 1; $20 for 5; and $40 for 12. Raffle tickets are still available. You can obtain these from the school office, or look for the Otter Bash team this Sunday, March 13, at the Montclair Village Farmers Market. If you still have your raffle envelops, you can drop these off in the Otter Bash box at AT/Ottertorium or at the school office; alternatively, you may also hand off your tickets to the volunteers at morning drop-off next Wednesday (March 16) and Thursday (March 17).
GOLDEN SNEAKER CONTEST
We are pleased to announce the winning classroom for the Golden Sneaker Event. The class with the highest participation rate for the two week contest, by walking, rolling, busing, or carpooling with neighbors and friends was – drum roll please – Ms. Torres’ Class! Congratulations! Tied for second place are Ms. Peare and Ms. Chanter’s classes. And, the best improvement over the two weeks goes to Mr. Winslow’s class. We encourage everyone to keep up the healthy habits and continue to walk, roll, bus, or carpool to school. Thanks for your participation!
MES VARIETY SHOW: MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Spring has sprung and it’s time for variety show fun! The Annual Montclair Elementary School Variety Show will be held on Saturday, May 7, 6pm in the Multipurpose Room. Please complete a participation form (sent home in green folder week of March 14) and email it to or drop in office box by April 14. The first rehearsal will be on Thursday, April 14 at 5:30pm.
MES SCHOOL-WIDE YEARBOOK – REQUESTING PHOTOS!
We need more photos! If you haven’t done so yet, please send us your student’s photos for the yearbook. To upload your photos go to www.hjeshare.com and the password is: Otters. It will allow you to upload 10 pictures at a time and can be accessed even on a phone! Please send us your best photos! These will be the memories our kids look back on and cherish. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Ames at . We regret not all photos will be used in the yearbook.
Tips when uploading photos:
· If photos are taken with a smartphone, these must be full size or the highest resolution.
· Please put the teacher’s name in grade field. We do not need individual student names. Every other field can have placeholder information. We only need the teacher’s name.
· School-related events only.

MONTCLAIR REC SPRING BREAK CAMP
