MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER – MARCH 2, 2016
GOLDEN SNEAKER CONTEST – ONE MORE WEEK!
We had great participation in our Golden Sneaker Contest, and the classrooms are vying for the highest percentage of students taking alternative modes to school (walking, biking, scootering, public transit, and carpooling with non-family members). So far, Ms. Torres’ class is in the lead. Do not fret: it is a close contest! Please encourage your students to walk, bike or roll (at least 2 blocks), use public transit, or carpool with neighbors/friends during the LAST FEW DAYS of the contest. Thanks for helping your kids participate and stay active.
DADS’ CLUB KIDS’ NIGHT OUT
Ever wonder what would it be like if dinosaurs never went extinct? Check out this month’s movie presentation of The Good Dinosaur, on Friday, March 4, 6-9pm in the Multipurpose Room. The kids will get pizza, popcorn, a movie and dance party; and you’ll get a night out! Don’t forget blankets, pillows, and water bottle. No need to sign up in advance anymore. Just come by and sign in. Sign up at the door will be quick and easy. Doors open at 6pm. Prices are $25 for the first child, $15 for every sibling after that. Proceeds go to fund programs at the school! Please remember: All attendees must be checked in/out by an adult.
AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT (ASE) SPRING SESSION
Registration for Spring Session ASE is now open, until Friday, March 11. Check out the schedule and other important information on the ASE page of the school’s website (http://www.montclairschool.com/ase/). Some classes are very competitive and fill up quickly. Don’t let your kids miss out on all the great offerings this spring––both right here on campus, and with our neighbors at Montclair Rec. Spring session is April 4 – June 3. For specific information about individual classes, contact the providers. For general information about the ASE program, contact our volunteer parent coordinator, Jared Karol at .
MES SCHOOL-WIDE YEARBOOK – REQUESTING PHOTOS!
We are working on the school-wide yearbook for Montclair Elementary and hope you can help upload some photos of your child at school-related events (classroom shots, field trips, recess, events at school, etc.). To upload your photos go to www.hjeshare.com and the password is: Otters. It will allow you to upload 10 pictures at a time and can be accessed even on a phone! Please send us your best photos! These will be the memories our kids look back on and cherish. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Ames at. We regret not all photos will be used in the yearbook.
Tips when uploading photos:
· If photos are taken with a smartphone, these must be full size or the highest resolution.
· Please put the teacher’s name in grade field. We do not need individual student names. Every other field can have placeholder information. We only need the teacher’s name.
· School-related events only.
