SAVE THE DATE: MARCH 19!

There’ll be silent and live auctions, games, hors d’oeuvres and drinks, all benefiting our school’s enrichment programs. Save this date: Saturday, March 19 for an Otter celebration! Curious to know more? Stay tune for more fun details in the coming weeks. You won’t want to miss this!
NEW IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2016
Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade. For more information about SB 277, please see the Frequently Asked Questions available at: www.shotsforschool.org/laws/sb277faq/. For more information about school immunization requirements and resources, please visit the California Department of Public Health’s website atwww.shotsforschool.org, or contact your local health department or county office of education. Thank you for helping us to keep our children and community healthy.
BOOK DRIVE – ‘TIS THE SEASON OF GIVING!
The Montclair Elementary Student Council is having a book drive, November 30-December 14. Any level or type of book will do; just make sure that all the pages are there! Books donated will go to Manzanita Community School students and their families, who often do not have books of their own. You can drop off your donations in the Book Drive collection box in your classroom. Thank you!

BECOME A BASEMENTEER
Our longtime supporter, Sports Basement, is spinning the traditional “loyalty” program into a win-win for its loyal customers and our community. Basementeers receive 10% discounts and give 10%: 10% off every item every day, and 10% of profits go back to your favorite local charity or school, like Montclair Elementary. While there is a $25 fee to join the program, MES families can waive that fee if they register by December 31, 2015. So, on your next visit to Sports Basement, register as a Basementeer and select Montclair Elementary as your beneficiary! Please note the ongoing partner and school discounts will be phased out as the company switches over to the new Basementeers Program.
