Weekly Newsletter 12/3/2014
MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER – DECEMBER 3, 2014 VOL. 15
After a successful field trip to the Telegraph Community Center earlier this month, Ms. Keegan and Ms. Morozumi’s first grade classes are now organizing a toy drive. We are soliciting toy donations for the Community Center now though Wednesday, December 10. Save your toy donations this Thanksgiving and bring them to MES this week! We will accept new or gently-used toys including books, stuffed animals, functioning electronics, etc. Please bring toys to Room 9 or place them in the marked red bin by the school main entrance. We will gratefully accept donations in the red bins, located in the hallway, through December 10. Thank you!
KIDS’ NIGHT OUT
Set your way back machine to Friday, December 5!!! It’s the first Friday of the month and that means – Kids’ Night Out! Come drop your kids off, 6-9pm in the Multipurpose Room so they can have a Night Out with their friends. They’ll get pizza, popcorn, a movie and a dance party; and you’ll get a night out, too! Pizza and snacks will begin at 6pm, followed by this month’s movie, Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Prices are $25 for the first child, $15 for every sibling after that. Proceeds benefit the Montclair Language League. Don’t forget blankets and pillows. Please bring a water bottle and help the environment. To sign up in advance, click here. We’ll select one child who has RSVP’d to go for free, so please register. It’s faster for you too! If you don’t register, no worries – just come by and drop off your kids. For questions, email .

All grades are now doing the finger scanning for lunch services and the process has been running quite smoothly. We hope that we will have two lines coming in for food service very soon, which should help move the lunch line quicker. For a copy of December’s lunch menu, please click here. Please note there are a few errors. Pizza Day is on Tuesdays now. So there is pizza on Tuesday, 12/16 and NO pizza on Wed 12/10 or 12/17. A copy of OUSD’s Nutrition Services Newsletter, “Food for Thought,” is attached.
SPELLING BEE PRACTICE SESSIONS
For 3rd-5th grade students interested in participating in the Spelling Bee in January, there will be practice sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:55am in Room 8 (Ms. Seltzer’s room). We will have study guides, strategies, and fun practices. Hope to see you there!
THE PTA NEEDS AN AUDITOR
Are you a financially savvy person? Are you interested in digging into the details of PTA finances? The PTA is in need of YOU! We need an auditor to join our Board. This person is responsible for reviewing the books and records of the PTA and providing recommendations for improvements regarding fiscal policies and procedures. The work can be done on your own time, so it’s great for a working parent. If you are interested, please contact PTA President Amy Omand at .
