Weekly Newsletter 12/2/15
MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER – DECEMBER 2, 2015
The middle of the school year is a great time for families to check in with students on goals. Setting academic and personal goals helps motivate, energize, and focus students, and it is a valuable skill that will benefit learners throughout their lives. The Report to Parents, “Setting Goals,” will help families assist students set and achieve goals. To view the report, go to www.naesp.org/sites/default/files/RtP_Goals.pdf. For Spanish, click on www.naesp.org/sites/default/files/RtP_Goals_Spanish.pdf. Report to Parents is a publication of the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

HELP MONTCLAIR LANGUAGE LEAGUE EXPAND
The Montclair Language League (MLL) currently offers 15 classes for 6 grade levels (K-5th), in 4 different languages. MLL was a contributing asset in MES’ recognition as a Blue Ribbon School. As such, we are reaching out to the MES Community to help keep and grow our program offerings. Please remember MLL during this season of giving by taking advantage of company matching Programs. Montclair Language League’s Tax ID number is 94-2472845.
While you shopping this holiday season, keep MES in mind. Take advantage of donations when purchasing online or in stores. There are a number of ways to help raise funds for our school, at no cost to you.
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way to support our school. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com. Please link your amazon account to our school at smile.amazon.com. To designate MES as your non-profit of choice, search for “Montclair Elementary PTA”, or 946186886, in the selection box.
If you shop at Lucky supermarket, please remember to use your SHARES card. You can pick up a SHARES card in the school office. Our school earns over $6,000 per year from the SHARES program. This is easy money for our school. Pick up a few extra SHARES cards and keep one in your car or shopping bag. Ask friends and neighbors to help out by using a SHARES card as well.
Another new, easy and free way to boost donations is BigPie. A number of Montclair Village merchants will donate a percentage of each purchase you make. Register at www.bigpie.com (click “Join BigPie”) and select Montclair Elementary as your non-profit. As you make purchases at participating businesses, inform the merchants that you want to apply your purchase to Big Pie, and they will donate to MES. Participating stores include: Pelago, A Great Good Place for Books, Art Loft Framing, Hallmark, Montclair Sports, and many others. Many Village restaurants and hair salons are participating, too. So shop local and help raise funds for MES!
