Weekly Newsletter 11/4/15

Picture Days this week are Wednesday-Friday, November 4-6.  Check with your room reps for specific class details.  Kids are encouraged to bring their own combs or hairbrushes, labeled with their names.  Make-up Picture Day will be on Thursday, November 19.

On Thursday, November 5, 6:30-8:00pm (MES Multipurpose Room), Montclair and Hillcrest Elem Schools will present a film screening of Beyond Measure – a follow up to Race to Nowhere from director Vicki Abeles. In Race to Nowhere, Ms. Abeles unveiled the dark side of America’s achievement culture. With Beyond Measure, Abeles shows what’s possible in education when we trust in the ingenuity of students, parents, and teachers. Communities transform education by putting research, and proven innovative models into practice. This film is appropriate for all ages. A Good Great Place for Books will attend our event and will be selling the film’s accompanying book – Beyond Measure: Rescuing An Overscheduled, Overtested, Underestimated Generation. The presentation will begin on time so please allow time for parking. Limited childcare, including a pizza dinner, will be available. Signup for the event here: https://goo.gl/i8Rpu5. Signup for childcare here: https://goo.gl/5ce9V8

They’ll get pizza, popcorn, a movie and dance party; and you’ll get a night out! Pizza and snacks will begin at 6pm. Prices are $25 for the first child, $15 for every sibling after that. This month, proceeds go to Montclair Language League. Don’t forget blankets, pillows, and water bottle. To sign up in advance, please go here: https://goo.gl/ZGnWJI.
