MONTCLAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER – OCTOBER 29, 2014 VOL. 11

MES HALLOWEEN PARADE

This year’s parade will be on the upper playground on October 31, 2pm, weather permitting. The purpose of the parade is for the children to see each other in their costumes, so please stay on the upper catwalk or outside of the parade circle. Also, do not send your child to school wearing their costume–time will be allotted before the parade for students to change. And remember, no sugary treats or weapons!

PTA NOVEMBER MEETING

Please save the date for the next PTA meeting on Wednesday, November 12. More details to come. For questions about this meeting or topic suggestions, please send an email to .

MES BOOK FAIR

The Montclair School Fall Book Fair is back! The fair will run from Friday, October 31(Halloween!) until Thursday, November 1, 8:30am-3:30pm. The school library receives a percentage of the proceeds. More details, including gift certificates information, can be found on the attached flyer. Thank you for your support.

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!

Do you know why? The Dads’ Club Kids’ Night Out is back, starting November 7, 6pm.  Pizza and snacks will start at 6pm, followed by The Lego Movie, and then dancing and more fun. Prices are $25 for the first child, $15 for every sibling after that. Please bring a reusable water bottle and help the environment. Questions? Please email. We’ll see you, or at least your kids, at the movies!

ASE COOKING CLASS NEEDS A STOVE

The Ottertorium is in desperate need of a gas stove.  If you know of anyone who is remodeling their kitchen and would like to donate an old stove, please contact the school office.  The ASE cooking class will greatly appreciate the donation.  Cooking class is a lot more fun with ovens and stove tops!

SEEKING SCHOOL MARQUEE MANAGER

The PTA is looking for a volunteer to take over one of our most fun jobs: managing the school marquee! Your job will be making sure the marquee is updated on a weekly basis. This is a fun job to involve your kids in and takes less than an hour a week. If you are interested and available, please email PTA VP of Communications Monica Mehta at .

SCHOOL YEARBOOK

Have you been interested in volunteering but just haven’t found the right job yet? If you are creative and love to take pictures, how about helping us make lasting memories for your child? We are planning a yearbook for Montclair Elementary and we need volunteers. If you are interested and would like to know more, please contact PTA Historian Jennifer Ames at .

OLIVE OIL AND FUNDRAISING

Come to a fundraising event for MES Thursday, November 6, 6:30-8:30pm at Amphora Nueva Olive Oil Shop! Wine, vinegar spritzers and appetizers will be served. Event cost is $30 per person. Taste amazing oils and vinegars, mingle with other parents, and do some holiday shopping – 20% of all purchases that night will go to MES! A super informative “Olive Oil 101” presentation is included. You will know so much more about how to select quality olive oils for flavor and health! This event’s hosts are parents Kelley Williams, Alice Hansen and Laura Baedeker. To sign up or for more information, please email.
