OUSD volunteer information

Parents can fill out the OUSD volunteer form HERE.

Clearance requirements

  • Parents / Guardians need TB clearance as long as they are supervised by an OUSD staff member for the entire time that they’re volunteering (ex. in the classroom).
  • Parents / Guardians wanting to work alone with students unsupervised (ex: one-on-one tutoring, chaperoning an overnight field trip and/or driving students to a field trip) must complete the live scan fingerprint clearance as well. Volunteers who are fully cleared in this way will be given a badge and lanyard to wear while volunteering to denote their clearance level.

Fingerprinting office is conveniently located in Downtown Oakland at 1814 Franklin Street, Suite 618, Oakland (at the corner of 19th & Franklin Streets) and one block from the 19th Street BART Station. Please bring the Request for Live Scan Service form (downloadable here) and ID. The price is $35. They are open Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm. No appointment is necessary Monday – Friday. They are also open on Saturday from 9 am – 12:30 pm, but appointments are required. Appointments can be made online at www.fingerprintingappointment.com.

How can you help?

Volunteering is for everyone! At Montclair Elementary, parents, guardians, grandparents, career professionals, those working at home… everyone participates to deliver a quality education to our children, making our public school among the best in the region.

We don’t pay a salary, but your compensation package as a Montclair volunteer includes:
• Getting to know your kids’ classmates.
• Connecting with other parents and guardians at the school.
• Spending more time with teachers and staff.
• Giving your child a sense of community.
• Being a role model for the future generations.
• Witnessing some “precious moments” of elementary school.
• Knowing you are part of the solution.
• Having FUN!

We ask each family to contribute time in EACH of the three following categories. Click the links for Job Descriptions, Contacts and more information:

1. Help in your classroom
2. Help the whole school
3. Help with fundraising.

Be a hero. Volunteer!
