Helping with Ongoing Programs

Academic Achievement Support

Work with the VP Diversity & Outreach to support the efforts of the school to reduce the achievement gap at Montclair School.

After-School Enrichment Classes
Develop portfolio of classes offered at Montclair School; administrate programs; set dates and plan space; coordinate with the Principal, the Office, providers, and AT; maintain data on enrollment, rosters, providers/instructors, insurance; collect fees from providers; coordinate flyers; aid principal/parents with any issues.

Alumni Relations Committee
Work with the VP Membership to build the strength of Montclair School by keeping the support of our graduated families and students. Assist with Founders’ Day planning. Develop the Alumni Relations program future plans.

Audio/Visual Team
Work with the VP Technology to deliver the audio/visual resources to support the school’s programs and activities such as Assemblies, PTA Meetings, Otter Walk, Halloween, Variety Show, etc. Use your creativity to make these occasions exciting and memorable.

Bulletin Boards
Help the Principal and the PTA Historian to cover the bulletin boards throughout the school at the beginning of the school year. Provide periodic maintenance as needed throughout the year and clear the boards at the end of June.

Dads’ Club
Choose from a number of opportunities to “work, play and eat” such as Otter Walk set-up and take-down, Grounds & Beautification, golf, summer BBQs, school work days, classroom improvements and fundraising. Coordinate the Dad’s Club efforts to support the school and the PTA. Develop membership and encourage attendance at events. Plan program of events and coordinate schedule.

Green Team
Develop and implement program to encourage environmentally-friendly education and practices. Integrate the established COMPOST program. Work with parents, teachers, and staff to bring environmental awareness to the curriculum, to the expansion, to the lunchroom, and beyond!

Hospitality Committee
Work with the VP Community Programs and Events to provide a atmosphere at PTA events that encourages participation. Coordinate refreshments to serve at a variety of PTA events including PTA Meetings, First Day of School Coffee, Kindergarten Open House, and In-Person Registration.

Language League
Help coordinate Montclair’s amazing before-and-after school foreign language instruction program. Several Board positions have distinct responsibilities.

Library Volunteer Coordinator
Work with the Librarian to ensure adequate trained volunteers are signed-up to run the library program. Facilitate communication between volunteers and the Librarian. Extra help is needed during book fairs.

Nominating Committee
Work with the PTA Parliamentarian and EVPs to recruit candidates for Key Volunteer positions. Develop a slate of candidates for the subsequent year PTA Board to present to the membership.

Safety & Disaster Preparedness Committee
Advocate for the safety of the kids. Organize emergency food/comfort packets, maintain disaster supplies, and assist with school disaster drills. Coordinate morning drop-off helpers and work with OPD and administration to maximize the safety of our traffic flow.

 Health & Nutrition Committee

Work with OUSD to advocate for healthful options our kids will eat. Manage cooking kitchen and educate parents about the importance of kids’ nutrition.

Public Relations Committee
As part of the PTA Marketing & Communications Team, you’ll work with the EVP External Affairs, the Historian, the Corresponding Secretary, and the Recording Secretary to identify and pursue opportunities to engage the public in our efforts and activities. Develop relationships with key news outlets.

Room Representative Coordinator
Work with the EVP Internal Affairs to coordinate the Room Representative (aka Room Parent) program. Recruit volunteers to be Room Reps, provide them with the information they will need to be successful, demonstrate the PTA’s appreciation for all of their hard work.

Teacher-Staff Appreciation Team
Work with the PTA EVP Internal Affairs to provide appropriate expressions of appreciation throughout the school year. Assist with coordination of the monthly TGIM Potluck Brunches and with the annual Teacher-Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

New Parent Mixer
Work with the VP Diversity & Outreach and with the VP Membership to coordinate an adult-oriented mixer for the incoming Kindergarten parents.

Helping with Teacher-Staff Appreciation Efforts

Planning Annual Teacher-Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Help prepare for this annual sit-down luncheon for entire staff in honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day. Send invitations to Teachers & Staff, provide flower arrangements, maintain list of who is bringing what and prepare menu, arrange for several volunteers to help set-up and clean-up on day of luncheon.
