FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT
Thursday, March 27th, 6:30-7:30pm
Please join us for a fun-filled evening of science experiments! There will be four experiments for the younger students (K-2) and four experiments for the upper grades (3-5). The kids will be following a protocol, making a hypothesis, taking notes, and coming up with a conclusion–just as some will be doing for the Science Fair in April! We also need volunteers to help manage the stations. Please sign up here to participate and/or volunteer. See attached flyer for more details.
KIDS’ NIGHT OUT
Friday, April 4th, 6-9pm
The next Dads Club Kids’ Night Out is coming! Kids get popcorn, pizza, dancing and a movie (TBD). The usual prices will apply — $25 for the first child, $15 for each additional sibling. Save the date and check this space next week for more details!
APRIL PTA MEETING
Wednesday, April 9th, 7-8:30pm
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Nettell will be here to share his expertise with our parent community. Has your child been excited to tell you about Mr. Nettell? Want to know why they have “secret handshakes?” Come as see for yourself and learn how we can help strengthen our community by supporting our students, teachers and other. Free childcare will be available for children out of diapers. RSVP to (). See attached flyer for more details.
PTA BOARD POSITIONS
If you’d like to get more involved with the school, now’s your chance! There are a number of PTA Board positions opening up in the fall of 2014 and we need dedicated parents like you. This is a great way to meet people and make a meaningful contribution to the school community. For more information, please contact PTA Parliamentarian or PTA VP of Internal Affairs .
OAKLAND A’S TIX
Once again, your Oakland A’s are letting us buy tickets to certain games at a reduced price this year — and the school makes money as well! Simply go to http://athletics.com/montclair, pick your game and order tix. See attached flyer for more information.
FREE LEGOLAND TIX
Calling all members of the PTA: We have free child’s tickets to Legoland for you! Stop by the office to pick up your coupon, and for every adult ticket you buy at the park, one child gets in free. Plus $10 off up to six additional tickets. Coupons expire December 2014.
The lunch service has been going well. Lines are moving smoothly, and kids are enjoying the food. Our lunch numbers are pretty good, but could be better in order to ensure that we will be able to keep our cooking kitchen. If your child has been buying lunches, thank you! Remember, every lunch counts, even if your child only buys a few times a week. Free or reduced lunches help our numbers too. Keep in mind, prepaying for lunches helps the lunch line move faster. Checks can be made out to “OUSD” and dropped off directly to Velvet in the kitchen between 6:30-11am or 1-2pm, or in the school office between 8am-4pm. Please remember to keep your balance up to date.
Check out the latest issue of the “Food For Thought” newsletter (PDF) from OUSD Nutrition Services. Starting April 24th in honor of Earth Day, every Thursday, school lunches will feature only products that are sourced from California! This is a huge step for OUSD and a great benefit for our kids. Thank you very much for supporting our kitchen!
